Shah Rukh Khan's Don 2 release in doldrums

MUMBAI: The release of Bollywood mega star Shah Rukh Khan's next movie Don 2 is said to be doldrums over a copyright infringement.

The allegation of copyright violation has emanated from none other than the production house Nariman Films that produced the original Don movie starring Amitabh Bachchan in 1978, said reports.

According to Nariman films, Excel Entertainment, headed by Farhan and Ritesh, only had the copyright to remake the original Don movie which they did in 2006 with Don: The Chase Begins Again. The agreement for the remake expired in 2009 and was not renewed by Excel Entertainment.

Excel Entertainment has been served a legal notice for the infringement of copyright.

It has been reported that Nariman films will be approaching the courts to halt the release of Don 2 on December 23.

Was Akon SRK's original choice, not Lady Gaga?

Only after the 'Chammak Challo' crooner apparently rejected an offer to perform at the F1 after party, Lady Gaga was approached

According to the latest buzz, international pop singer Akon was originally approached to perform at the much-hyped launch of Formula 1 after party hosted by Arjun Rampal's resto-bar.

Interestingly, it was only after the singer turned down the offer, Lady Gaga was roped in.

A source says, "Shah Rukh Khan wanted Akon instead of Gaga to perform at the Formula One after parties held at Arjun Rampal's lounge.

The event was being held soon after the release of RA.One, so SRK suggested Arjun, who also stars in the film, to rope in Akon.

The marketing genius thought it would be a perfect opportunity to do the post-release promotions of the film. Since the pop star has sung the Chammak Challo song, he could perform it at the party and help promote the film."

But alas! SRK's plan to kill two birds with one stone didn't work, as Akon didn't accept his offer. Reason? The singer wasn't apparently pleased with the money offered, which was half his market price.

It was only later that Arjun's team apparently decided to approach the pop diva Lady Gaga." Both SRK and Arjun Rampal remained unavailable for comment.

Shah Rukh Khan 'to interview Lady GaGa in India'

Actor Shah Rukh Khan will interview Lady GaGa during her visit to India this weekend.

The Hindustan Times reports that the two stars will meet for an exclusive face-to-face interview at Arjun Rampal's Delhi nightclub Lap on October 30.

Keith Alphonso, business head of UTV Bindass, said: "For the longest time we have felt that Lady GaGa personified the spirit of our channel and her trip to India to perform live during the F1 grand finale gave us an opportunity to fix a one-on-one interaction between the global popstar and Shah Rukh Khan, who is our own global rockstar.

"Her concert is only for a limited audience but for this encounter, which is an initiative of UTV Bindass, we have got her nod for having 25-40 of her young fans on board. This is the only time in India when she will be interacting with a real audience."

Khan reportedly wanted Lady GaGa to record a song for his superhero film RA.One, but they were unable to coordinate their schedules.

Khan previously said that he was inspired by Lady GaGa.

The interview will be aired on UTV Stars and UTV Bindass in November.

Shah Rukh Khan to collaborate with Lady GaGa?

Shah Rukh Khan is reportedly still keen on working with Lady GaGa despite failures to co-ordinate schedules for recording a Ra.One track.

The science fiction superhero film features music from Grammy nominee Akon, as well as cameos from Amitabh Bachchan and Rajinkanth.

A source told The Times of India: "Either Shah Rukh was busy with the post-production of RA.One or Lady GaGa's dates couldn't be worked out.

"The song couldn't be shot for the film, although composers Vishal-Shekhar had already composed a tune for Lady GaGa to record."

Director Abuhav Sinha confirmed that the Bollywood veteran had been in touch with the international pop icon.

"Shah Rukh was very keen on working with Lady GaGa," Sinha said. "In fact, we were supposed to shoot them together for a song that would have been used with the end titles of Ra.One.

"However, we couldn't co-ordinate Shah Rukh and Lady GaGa's dates. The idea of bringing them together is still very much alive. We're working on something."

In September, Khan said that he started listening to Lady GaGa in order to reinvent himself.

The actor also reportedly planned an international tour with Akon, who sings title track 'Chammak Challo'.

'Ra.One' to have Dubai, London, Toronto premieres

Shah Rukh Khan and Kareena Kapoor film Ra.One is expected to premiere in Dubai, London and Toronto.

The three advanced screenings will take place in some of Hindi cinema's key international markets, reports Hindustan Times.

However, doubts have been raised as to whether Kapoor will be able to attend all the events, with a source saying: "Kareena plays the female lead and SRK obviously wants her around as much as possible.

"She is trying her best to attend the Dubai and London premieres because she does not want to miss the international premieres of her film," said a source.

Prior filming commitments with Aamir Khan may prevent Kapoor from attending the North American premiere.

"This film is obviously her biggest this year, and she definitely wants to be a part of all promotional events. It's just unfortunate that the premiere is now clashing with the shoot dates of Dhuaan," the source added.

Khan will be seen playing G.One in his forthcoming project, with the title role from Ra.One played by Arjun Rampal.

The actor-producer has also launched a series of video games to accompany the movie.

The sci-fi production is scheduled to release worldwide on October 26.Source

Shahrukh Khan, Farah Khan end cold war

MUMBAI: On the sets of the grand finale of Hrithik Roshan’s dance reality show Just Dance, Shahrukh Khan and Farah Khan ended their three-year-old tiff.

Once thick buddies, Shahrukh and Farah had a falling out when she chose Akshay Kumar, and not SRK, for her movie Tees Maar Khan. But on Thursday, while filming the grand finale of Just Dance, the two had the right occasion and the temperament to put an end to the long lasting chill between them.

We hear that the crew of the show had initially seated Shahrukh and Farah, who is one of the judges, far from each other, but when Shahrukh arrived he insisted on sitting next to Farah.

Moreover, Shahrukh poked fun at Farah and soon the two were laughing and joking like they used to earlier. Hope this camaraderie was not just for the cameras.

Ra.One poster is Batman Return's rip off

MUMBAI: The poster of the upcoming super hero movie Ra.One starring Shahrukh Khan is a complete copy of the cover of Bollywood flick Batman Returns, Geo News reported Sunday.

The Batman Returns was starred by Micahel Keaton.

In an interview Shahrukh Khan was quoted: "Ra.One is the modern, new age technology version of our mythological "Raavan", who was a mixture of ten different evil characters. I am essaying the role of G.One or better say Jeevan, a superhero who saves the mankind from Ra.One's torment. Through this film, I want to prove that Indian superheroes can also be as cool as the international ones."

If the idea of Ra.One is a rip off by courtesy of Batman, it will prove wrong the idea of Shahrujh Khan that, 'Indian superheroes can also be as cool as the international ones.'

Ra.One is set to release on October 26, an upcoming 2011 Hindi superhero science fiction film starring Shahrukh Khan, Kareena KapoorKareena Kapoor and Arjun Rampal.

Don sequel trailer in theatres this Friday

I plead guilty of saying that I would not make a Don sequel, but somehow the character just wouldn’t leave me. Now, in retrospect, I’m glad I’ve made Don 2,” admits producer-director Farhan Akhtar, who is gearing up for the response to the first trailer of one of this year’s most eagerly awaited films that unveils in theatres this Friday, along with the Farhan-starrer, Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara.

Farhan’s partner and co-producer Ritesh Sidhwani endorses the fact that despite an open ending, the duo had not thought of taking the story forward when Don—The Chase Begins (2006) ended. He says, “But then Ameet (Mehta) and Amrish (Shah) came to us with an interesting story idea. It took us a while to develop it, but finally, last October, we flagged off Don 2, and on December 23, as Shah Rukh (Khan) says in the promos, the don will return to the screen after five years.”

Ritesh agrees that expectations are sky high, but is confident that the high-speed action sequences, the special effects and the familiar characters in a new European setting, will spark off an ‘Oh my God, this is huge!’ reaction from the audience, from children in particular, who, he admits, is Don’s biggest fan base. “It surprised me that my own kids had taken such a fancy to a bad guy till I realised that the eternal favourite, Tom & Jerry, is a violent cartoon too.”

The filmmakers adds that apart from two new characters, enacted by Lara Dutta and Kunal Kapoor, the others played by SRK, Priyanka Chopra, Boman Irani and Om Puri, are the same from Part 1 and continue from where they had left. Ritesh says, “So Roma knows that the good Vijay is dead, Don has survived and sets out to even the score,” he says. “That twist at the end of Part 1 was what made it different from Mr Bachchan’s (Amitabh) Don. This one is completely new and original with no reference points but you would have to see Don —The Chase Begins to understand what’s happening. Don is on its way to becoming a franchise now. This time if you were to ask me about a Part 3, I wouldn’t say no.”
