William Shatner not reprising Star Trek role

Veteran actor William Shatner has ruled out the possibility of reprising his role of Captain James T. Kirk in the next Star Trek movie.

The 79-year-old was left infuriated when he was left out of last year's revamped movie, which starred Chris Pine as a younger version of his character.

Shatner had previously said he would convince his pal and Star Trek director J.J. Abrams to feature him in the next instalment, but the star has now accepted it would be too difficult, reports contactmusic.com.

"I've become a buddy of J.J., but I don't know if they can solve the problem of how you put the body I'm in now with the Kirk that we remember from 40 years ago," he said.

Jesse James in terrible state

William Shatner has expressed his sympathy for Sandra Bullock and her estranged husband Jesse James.

The veteran actor, who co-starred with the Oscar-winning actress in the comedy Miss Congeniality, has revealed that James is "in a terrible emotional state".

Bullock announced her plans to divorce James and raise the couple's newly-adopted son Louis by herself after the revelation of her husband's 11-month affair came to light.

Speaking to The Insider, Shatner said: "My heart goes out to Sandra, who I know and love. My heart goes out to Jesse. I was at their wedding. I know he loved her. That marriage, that wedding was just beautiful.

"Jesse's being tormented like a matador with a bull. The paparazzi have nothing to lose so they are constantly waving the red flags. He's in a terrible emotional state. His whole life has been turned upside down. He doesn't know what he's doing right now."
