Morrissey: 'England doesn't need royal family'

Morrissey has insisted that England does not need the royal family.

In an interview with Radio 4, the Smiths singer confessed that he will not be watching the wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton as he considers the event to be a joke.

"Why would I watch the wedding? I couldn't take any of that seriously," he explained. "I don't think the so-called royal family speak for England now, and I don't think England needs them.

"I do seriously believe that they are benefit scroungers, nothing else. I don't believe they serve any purpose whatsoever. I'm not an anarchist, but I believe that people don't want the royal family - the so-called royal family. They're not royal to me, but they're royal to the media for some reason."

Daniel Radcliffe: 'No royal wedding fever'

Daniel Radcliffe has said that he wishes Prince William and Kate Middleton all the best, but admits that he hasn't been caught up in royal wedding fever yet.

The Harry Potter star was asked for his thoughts on the impending nuptials on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon.

"You know, it seems to be a much bigger deal over here than it is at home, from what I'm gathering," he said.

"From the friends I have spoken to, the thing they are most excited about is it means we get a four-day weekend at home! That's the kind of thing that's driving most people."

He added: "I wish them all the happiness in the world but I'm not going as feverish as everyone else seems to [be]."

As for whether he has ever met a member of the royal family, he said: "I've met Fergie. Does that count? I'm not being callous! It's genuinely ignorance. She's still a duchess, right? Yes? So I have [met royalty]."

The royal wedding is scheduled to take place at Westminster Abbey in London on Friday.

Radcliffe was on the NBC show to promote his Broadway production How To Succeed In Business Without Really Trying, which is currently playing at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre. He can also be seen in the final instalment in the Harry Potter franchise, Deathly Hallows Part 2, which opens at cinemas on July 15.

Katona: 'I'd get kicked out of royal wedding'

Kerry Katona has joked that she would be asked to leave Prince William and Kate Middleton's royal wedding if she were to attend.

The reality TV star was not invited to the ceremony on Friday and said that she would have been kicked out if she was.

She told Now: "I'd love an invite to the wedding. But I'd probably get kicked out for trying to do the can-can in the middle of the dancefloor."

The 30-year-old, who is dating property developer Dan Foden, has her own reality TV show, Kerry Katona: The Next Chapter, on ITV2 but said that she wouldn't like to be in the public eye as much as Katie Price.

She added: "I wouldn't like to be in Kate's shoes. I feel pressure being Kerry Katona and I'm a nobody."

Katona is reportedly planning a musical comeback by featuring on a track with Basshunter.

Prince William 'underwear party' photos surface

Prince William has been pictured dancing in his underwear with a pink feather boa wrapped around his neck, in shots taken from a 2002 party.

The People has published images of the soon-to-be-married royal, who last month revelled in a low-key water-themed stag weekend, racing around in his boxer shorts at a friend's 21st birthday.

The images were allegedly taken in William's second year at the University of St Andrews, when the young Windsor's activities were subject to strict reporting restrictions.

A fellow partygoer said of the Prince: "He was cool about stripping off and really going for it. To think he's the future king of England is just incredible.

"He was having a boogie in his pants and a couple of feather boas.It shows how popular he was. Wills wasn't a big boozer - these were just high jinks."

'William & Kate' film coming to Blinkbox

Hollywood's take on the royal love story between Prince William and Kate Middleton is to be released on video on-demand website Blinkbox.

William & Kate: The Movie will become available to watch on Blinkbox this Saturday, ahead of the couple's big day at Westminster Abbey on April 29.

Directed by Emmy Award-winner Frank Konigsberg, the film follows the couple's love story from when they met at St Andrew's University through their nine-year courtship and Prince William's proposal.

British-born actress Camilla Luddington plays Kate Middleton, but the part of William is taken by New Zealander Nico Evers-Swindell.

The TV movie, which has received a less than glowing reaction from the critics, will also be aired on British television as part of Channel 5's royal wedding coverage.

Yesterday, Tesco announced the acquisition of an 80% stake in VOD provider Blinkbox, as part of the supermarket chain's drive into digital home entertainment.
