'Bachelor' Vienna 'returns engagement ring'

Bachelor star Vienna Girardi has reportedly returned her engagement ring to ex-fiance Jake Pavelka.

The airline pilot proposed to Girardi with a 2.72 carat platinum and diamond princess cut ring designed by Neil Lane on the ABC show earlier this year, but the couple announced they have now split this week.

According to People, a source has said that Girardi gave the band back to Pavelka earlier this week, while Pavelka recently confirmed to Extra that he now has the ring.

Speaking to the magazine, jeweller Lane said: "I always hope that people will work and have a Cinderella ending. The ring was made with love and affection for Vienna, but I'm not in control of what happens. It's too bad."

He continued to say that he has "no idea what will ultimately happen to the ring" but suggested that it will now be returned to producers. A representative for the show reportedly declined to comment.

Girardi previously told Digital Spy that the jewel was "breathtaking" and that it meant a lot to her because "it's almost identical to the ring that I wore which my dad gave me".

The marketing representative and Pavelka recently reunited to tape a post-split interview with franchise host Chris Harrison which will air on July 5 on ABC.
